Our CEO Cindy Ciardo traveled to DC last week with 250 other representatives of the home healthcare sector to fight for seniors. The National Competitive Bidding Program, set to be implemented in the Milwaukee area on July 1st, will negatively affect seniors by limiting their choices and resulting in inferior products being made available to them. The impact will even leave many beneficiaries without access to needed medical supplies.
Cindy was able to make the case with almost all of the WI legislative delegation: “At KHS, we understand the need to lower prices and keep costs down, but we still want to provide the most appropriate product for the client’s needs – not the least expensive one dropped-shipped to the client’s home with no instructions…and that is why we support the Market Pricing Program.”
The Market Pricing Program is detailed in a bill (H.R. 1717) that is currently in the House. It provides for a fair system to keep costs down but ensure seniors the quality care and products they deserve, and the ability to get those products from the provider of their choice.
“Please help us preserve the quality and integrity of the Medicare DME program so our seniors will not have to go without or receive low-quality product that doesn’t last or fully meet their needs,” added Cindy in a plea to lawmakers.
And we ask you join us in this fight for seniors. Additional information on H.R. 1717 and how you can support seniors can be found at: http://action.aahomecare.org/9244/stop-medicare-bidding-program-home-medical-equipment/
