KHS Thanks and Salutes Our Seniors

Posted on: August 21st, 2014 by Knueppel HealthCare Services No Comments

August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day, a day created in 1988 to show our gratitude to seniors for their achievements and contributions to society. KHS extends our sincerest thanks to our older US citizens.

Senior Citizens Day is a day to:

  • Spend time with seniors
  • Show our appreciation
  • Volunteer to help the elderly

Time well spent!

The presidential proclamation for the day states: “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older — places in which older people can participate to the fullest and can find the encouragement, acceptance, assistance, and services they need to continue to lead lives of independence and dignity.”

KHS echoes those values in our work with those planning to age-in-place: maintain their independence and dignity and stay at home with convenient home modifications.

Spending time with seniors gives them valuable companionship and lets them know they are cherished. We can learn about their hobbies and share the details of our favorite activities with them. Perhaps you will uncover a common interest! They will appreciate us showing interest in their lives.

We can show our appreciation for seniors close to us through a phone call, a visit or a card. Visiting a senior center, assisted living facility, retirement home or nursing home can reach many seniors and help create new friendships.  Sharing fresh flowers and/or vegetables from your garden can really make a senior happy.

 Every moment counts!

On this August 21st, National Senior Citizens Day, we recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of older people to our homes, our families and our society. THANK YOU!

Giving birth and caring for your infant and young child can be a life-changing event and at KHS we want you to know that we are dedicated to supporting you throughout your journey. KHS celebrates World Breastfeeding Week August 1-7, 2014 to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

Twenty years ago, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) started the World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) campaign to support all women in breastfeeding and caring for their infants and young children.

 Breastfeeding: A Winning Goal!

WABA is pleased to announce that the slogan and theme for World Breastfeeding Week 2014: BREASTFEEDING: A Winning Goal – For Life!

This year’s WABA World Breastfeeding Week theme asserts the importance of increasing and sustaining the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding – in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) countdown, and beyond. We call on all celebrants of WBW to Protect, Promote and Support Breastfeeding: it is a vital Life-Saving Goal!

Our team of professional, certified fitters is here to assist women in selecting merchandise related to breastfeeding and breast care. We are committed to combining caring and compassionate service with the most recent advances in product technology.

 KHS

Breastfeeding your baby is one of the most important decisions you can make. Not only is breastfeeding best for your baby’s health, it can also benefit you in many ways.

Breastfeeding is the most natural and nutritious way to encourage your baby’s development. Mothers’ milk is a unique combination of fats, sugars, minerals, proteins, vitamins and enzymes custom-made to promote brain and body growth.

However, there may be times when breastfeeding, even under the best of circumstances, can present challenges, as both mother and baby are learning what to do. It’s worth the effort because your baby receives important nutritional, immunological, and developmental benefits and both of you get to enjoy a special closeness.
