 Motivo Tour- Salsa Red

KHS will be the first to offer the Motivo Tour four-wheeled walker – a great leap forward in mobility and walker technology, designed to revolutionize users’ experience with better ergonomics, greater independence, and a unique personal style.

KHS has joined Motivo Inc. to offer the Tour–a walker featuring revolutionary technology that provides users greater independence for a fuller, more active life.

The Tour’s ground breaking design and stow-away padded seat enables users to walk upright, inside the unit for less fatigue, better posture, and greater stability, while also allowing for far easier access to sinks, countertops, and shelves without having to reach over a walker. The patent-pending Tour also features a convenient fold-out tray, multiple cup holders, and easily accessible storage to make life easier.  All of this innovation is wrapped in a contemporary design and a 5-layer automotive grade finish, complete with customizable and removable graphic sets to allow each walker to be personalized.

“We’re excited to bring the Tour exclusively to our customers,” said Knueppel CEO Cindy Ciardo. “There hasn’t been major development in the walker category for decades, and Motivo’s Tour has the features that will absolutely improve our customers’ mobility and lives.”

The Tour is made of lightweight and ultra-durable materials and folds compactly for easy transport. For added confidence, the Motivo Tour is backed by a limited lifetime warranty and is made in the USA.

“Motivo is proud to have Knueppel as a partner,” said Jeremy Knopow, co-founder of Motivo. “They have a great reputation for providing the best home medical equipment, and we’re excited that the Tour will now be available at such a trusted source in southeastern Wisconsin.”

The Tour was named a 2014 New Product of the Year by HME Business and one of MedTrade’s Top-5 New Products for its innovation and promise to improve the lives of walker users.

KHS Celebrates Sixty Years of a Family Business!

Posted on: March 1st, 2015 by Knueppel HealthCare Services No Comments

Happy Birthday to Knueppel HealthCare Services! 2015 marks our 6oth year of serving southeastern Wisconsin, initially as a pharmacy and today as a full-service durable medical equipment company complete with a rehabilitation department and a home modifications division.

Hilbert and Lillian Knueppel

Hilbert and Lillian Knueppel

Hilbert and Lillian Knueppel founded Knueppel Pharmacy in 1955 on Lisbon Avenue in Milwaukee complete with a soda fountain, ice cream and school supplies. In addition, Knueppel Pharmacy was one of the first businesses in the area to provide fitting services: providing professional fittings for orthopedic and post-mastectomy products.

In 1972 ownership was transferred to their son, Richard Knueppel. Under his ownership, and thanks to a three-year period under the ownership of Shield Healthcare in the 1980’s, the business evolved into a pharmacy that also provided ostomy supplies and home medical equipment. November of 1996 saw the opening of a Racine location.

Then in 2003, the business, now Knueppel HealthCare Services, Inc. (KHS) was purchased by Richard’s son, William Knueppel, and Cindy Ciardo.  A move from the Lisbon Avenue location to a much more spacious location in West Allis occurred in 2005. We are proud to say that we remain family-owned and operated with our two convenient locations in Southeastern Wisconsin–West Allis and Racine.

KHS West Allis

KHS West Allis

The pharmacy is long-gone, but KHS has expanded to include high-tech, assistive rehab equipment and custom fabrication, as well as home modifications for people with disabilities or those wishing to age in place. On the softer side, KHS boasts the largest women’s health and compression therapy business in Wisconsin.

KHS remains very committed to the communities we serve. We feel strongly about providing continuing education for our staff, and sharing that knowledge with our clients and healthcare professionals. In addition, we support and participate in many organizations that educate consumers and healthcare professionals, increase awareness of healthcare related issues within the medical community, and advocate improvements within our industry.

We believe that informed clients and healthcare providers will make better decisions about the products and services they receive or recommend. We know that making educated choices results in better compliance and treatment success, positively impacting comfort, safety, well-being, and total rehabilitation.

Current co-owner William shares some thoughts about the history of KHS: “My grandparents were both heavily involved in the business even after the sale to my father in 1972. From my grandfather I learned how to work hard and how to fix things. From my father I learned how to treat people right. I am very proud to have learned these life skills from them.”

He continues: “My father passed away in 2008 but, fortunately, he lived to see the completion of the new facility in West Allis. I remember how proud he was the first time he saw it. He said he wished his parents had lived to see what their business had become. After selling the business and retiring, my father would still come in almost every afternoon and see if there were any errands he could run for me. I miss that. For more than a year after his passing I would hear the door open in the afternoon and think it was him coming in for his daily visit.

“One thing that has remained unchanged since my grandparents opened the doors in 1955 is that this is a family business – every employee here is treated as though they are part of the Knueppel family.”
